After installing the. It should work. The weird thing is my lap top and desk top cannot create folders,, I have tried almost everything,, and still cannot get it to fix.. I really do not want to start from scratch arain,, I have down loaded three reg edit programs and nothing,, tried everything I have read on here and nothing.. The NewFolder. You might want to keep it somewhere in case you ever run into this problem again, but it doesn't need to stay on your desktop after you have used it.
Thank you Linda. I received a registry edit error when executed the program. Note that only system processes were running. I am not absolutely positive but I think the ability to create a folder was only possible after the 2nd time I executed newfolder.

If the Registry is blank in that data area, it won't secure a spot for Folder to show up in the New context menu. Thank you both for your work on this. It worked a treat. I immediately uninstalled the lot but it wasn't until a day or two later that I found I could only create compressed folders and my normal create folder icon was missing. I've been trying for several days to find a fix for this problem so I'm very relieved! I have tried this solution every way but upside down. I paste the bold text into Notepad and save as NewFolder. When I double click on the desktop copy all it does is open Notepad. Is there something I'm missing here?
I don't get it and yes by simply typing Folder in that field then refreshing worked like a charm. Why do all these techies have to over complicate the problem by adding all that mumbo jumbo about registry lines that you don't even need anyway. This has got to be the most simplest fix since the birth of the computers.

I finally managed to update the the system registery files by opening regedit and then importing the files through it. This has really corrected the "new folder" creation issue! I went to Desktop, and NewFolder. I did a search for the file, and clicked what was found with this name, but received an error message "You can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor. Hi Linda this help me a lot. I run Windows 7 and was unable to create new folders. I did get an error msg saying that not all updates could be made when I loaded the NewFolder. I ignored the message and the problem was solved. Btw, I have no idea what caused the problem creating new folders.
I don't remember making system changes, installing new programs or doing other things that might have caused a register change. I did everything mentioned in the instructions to fix the folder problem and they did not work or so it seemed. When I read your post, I rebooted my machine and now the folder option works.
