Gantt chart microsoft office project 2007

Sorry Mike. I will take care of those things in future. Thanks Ahmed for ur reply.. Thanks for trying. I always thought that people could delete their own posts - mostly they can. I can't delete it there because I'm not a Moderator there. Anyway the main thing is that there is only one thread with it in the SharePoint forums and that situation is what we have now. For more general details on Gantt charts and information on how to create them in other software applications, please see Gantt Chart Examples and Tutorials.

When you first launch Project , the initial screen view is of a Gantt chart. Once the tasks are added, things become much clearer, and soon enough the usefulness of a Gantt chart becomes evident. The project window is split up into two panes. The left side is where your tasks will be listed along with their duration, start and end times. The first column on the left side is for task indicators. Indicators can either be represented by a check, which shows the task is completed; or by two arrows in a revolving circle, showing that the task is recurring.

There are over twenty different icons that can appear in this column, which should easily represent any number of task types within your project. The right side of the window is where the bar chart or timeline of the project will appear as data is added.

As we begin to build the project, I will mention the different icons or graphics you can expect to see here. Depending on the complexity of your project, the right side of a Gantt chart can be very involved or very simple. Changes in the left side are reflected by changes in the right - and vice versa. Column A contains the task name, column B contains the corresponding start date, and column C contains the duration of the task, in days. Select the range A4:C10 and then on the Insert tab, in the Charts group, select the Bar button and choose Stacked Bar to create a chart:.

Right-click one of the dates along the category axis and select Format Axis In the Format Axis dialog box, adjust the horizontal axis Minimum and Maximum scale values to correspond to the earliest and latest dates in the data. You also may want to set the Major unit to 7 to indicate weeks. Access the Format Axis dialog box for the vertical axis: in the Axis Options tab, check the option labeled Categories in reverse order , and also set the option labeled At maximum category in the Horizontal axis crosses group:.

Right-click in the first data series and choose Format Data Series You can choose to display some or all of the imported items. Mine looked like this and it took less than a minute to make. Click the Sync button on the Office Timeline ribbon to update your Gantt whenever the data changes in your Project file. The sync wizard will identify any changes to the mpp file.

Select the changes you want to accept and click Finish to update your Microsoft Office Gantt chart. Your slide can be updated in real-time. Below, I synchronized my Gantt chart with its linked MS Project file to add tasks and milestones, and then I made some styling changes - for example, changing colors, shapes, and text positions, and switching the timescale from months to weeks. All of this was instantly done using the Style Pane.
